Extended Care

Building social skills and self-esteem

St. James conducts a program of after school enrichment daily from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. Students may be enrolled on a full-time or a drop-in basis. This program provides opportunity for children to participate in activities that enrich learning. The Homework Club, Sports, and various arts programs offered after school are not considered Extended Care. Students who are not picked up within 15 minutes after school will be sent to Extended Care and billed accordingly. Families will be allowed 3 short emergency stays in Extended Care and the hourly rate will apply. On the 4th visit, the registration fee will be charged. Only students of St. James will be allowed in Extended Care. There is no Extended Care available the first and last days of school, and also on the last day before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter vacations.

  • Morning Extended Care is provided free of charge: 7:00-7:45 a.m.
  •
  • Afternoon Extended Care, Regular Day Schedule: 2:45-6:00 p.m.
  •
  • Minimum days 12:30-6:00 p.m.
  •
  • Mondays: 12:30-6:00 p.m.

The program is financially self-sufficient, for a listing of the rates please see the Registration Form. Parents are asked to pay by the month and on the first of each month. Payments may be made to the Director of Extended Care or to the Bookkeeper. A nutritional snack will be provided for each child enrolled in Extended Care. Children may also bring their own snacks and on minimum days, will need to bring a lunch.

Children are encouraged to bring play clothes to Extended Care and must be appropriate and within the Free Dress Code. Toys and clothing should be labeled with the child's name.

Extended Care is located in the lower and upper yard and also in the classrooms. As a child enters the Extended Care area, he/she must sign in with the Director and the arrival time will be noted. At the time of pick-up, the parent/guardian must come to the Extended Care area and sign the child out. No one other than the individuals on the emergency form may pick up the child, unless prior written arrangements have been made with the school.

If a child who regularly attends Extended Care will not be there on a particular day, please notify the school. All students not registered in Extended Care must go home directly after school. No student is permitted to be in the schoolyard unsupervised after school.
